How About Those New Katy Perry Tracks?

Katy Perry has released two of the new tracks off her upcoming re-release of her double-platinum album, Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection. The tracks are titled "Wide Awake" and "Dressin' Up" and they are both pretty solid efforts on her part. The first is a more down tempo ballad about the troubles of ending a relationship, while the second is much more upbeat, if not also a little more catchy. Both singles will be released, along with Perry's newest single, "Part of Me," on March 27th. Check out "Wide Awake" and "Dressin' Up" below!

Touch Me, Please, Katharine McPhee

Earlier this week, American Idol runner-up Katharine McPhee released her latest single, "Touch Me," which will serve as the promotional single for the upcoming soundtrack to her hit show, Smash. Without sounding too cliché, the song is actually a smash. It's just about everything right now; a dark, infectious beat, McPhee's amazing voice, and it's on the soundtrack to one of the best new shows of the season. It's exactly what McPhee needs to get the spotlight back on her and get all the credit she deserves, after being one of the more under-appreciated Idol contestants. (Ahem, Taylor Hicks, who?) Smash continues to get better each week and this track is sure to keep with the trend. Take a listen to "Touch Me" below!
Warning: I would strongly recommend that you stop your life and sit down while you do so, at least the first time.

So, I Kind Of Just Had To Put This One On Here

While the track was released back in 2011, but I just have to comment on how ob-sessed I am with the Carly Rae Jepsen single, "Call Me Maybe." The song, which features the vocals of Canadian Idol's 2007 third place finisher, the track is literally one of the best releases in the bast few months. Since it's release to mainstream radio on March 6th, the song has seen a huge rise on the Billboard Hot 100, sitting in the mid 30's since. I can't wait until it blows up and hits #1. The song serves as the first official single from Jepsen's EP Curiosity, which dropped on February 14th.

The song is about a young girl falling for the boy next door and trying to give him her number. It's the perfect anthem for all of us who have ever been too scared to take the plunge and give a sexy someone our number. Oh, and let's not forget about the killer hook and the amazing strings in the background. And the video? Oh, I won't spoil the ending but it's actually adorable. If you haven't had a chance to have Carly Rae change your life, check out the video for "Call Me Maybe" below!

Eyes Open

Taylor Swift, in all of her "country" glory, has released the second song she's recorded for the soundtrack to the upcoming film, The Hunger Games, out March 21st, which I could not be more thrilled about. The song is titled "Eyes Open" and it's a ballad-y, "country-inspired" song that Swift has said is supposed to represent Katniss' (Jennifer Lawrence) relationship with the Capitol in the film. The track is actually pretty good, as was Swift's first release from the soundtrack, "Safe & Sound." Check out "Eyes Open" below and download it for yourself!

Carrie Underwood - Good Girl Video!

Carrie Underwood has released the video for her newly released single, "Good Girl." As you may have heard, the track serves as Underwood's first official single off her upcoming, highly-anticipated fourth studio album, Blown Away, out May 1st! The song, which is an instant pup-up jam, has been on repeat since it dropped last week. The video is no less amazing than the song, featuring Carrie in her signature "Country girl-diva" look that she pulls off oh-so-well. It's mostly a video of Carrie looking absolutely amazing in a variety of different costumes, but I can look past the lack of story just to watch her be a diva. Check out the video for "Good Girl" below!

Silenced By The Night

Just a few days ago, the latest single from the English rock band Keane was released. The track serves as the band's latest showing after a two-year hiatus and it's titled "Silenced By The Night." It's a big, swooning, downtempo ballad that reminds me a bit of a cross between the early sounds of The Fray and newer Snow Patrol. Plus, it doesn't hurt that lead singer Thomas Chaplin's voice is stunning. The single is also the first official single off Keane's upcoming fourth studio album, Strangeland, which drops on May 8th! Check out the "Silenced By The Night" below!

Alphabeat Are Back (Finally)

Earlier today, the Danish pop superstars that are Alphabeat released their newest single, "Vacation." The track serves as the band's first release since their sophomore album The Beat Is... which was released nearly three years ago. The song has a big, '80s inspired feel and a signature Alphabeat energy that comes together to make give us an al-out fun track. It may not be the most revolutionary single for the group, but I have gotten slightly bored re-listening to "Heatwave" everyday and I need a new summer jam. Looks like I've found it! Check out the track below and get "Vacation" on iTunes!

Stop Everything, This Is More Important

Today, Marina and the Diamonds released the first single off her upcoming second studio album, Electra Heart. The single is titled "Primadonna" and is actually quite amazing and wonderful and so deliciously ties together that whole Marina/Electra Heart bit the album is about. But what could be better than that, right? Oh, only if Marina et al. decided to release the accompanying video for the track, titled "Part 4: Primadonna." Yeah, it happened.

"Primadonna" reminds me quite a bit of some Family Jewels Marina, while still having a bit more bubble-gum pop (It almost sounds like a follow-up to one of my favorites on the album, "Oh No!"). Regardless, "Primadonna" is an absolute bass-pumping cut with Dr. Luke written all over it. Check out the video below and grad the new single when it drops in the UK on April 15th!

Video: Florence + The Machine - "Never Let Me Go"

Florence + The Machine have released the video for their third single, "Never Let Me Go," off their sophomore album Ceremonials. The video shows Welch in a darker garb than she's typically seen in - all black, hair included. The killer song was turned in to an equally stunning video, with Welch looking as fantastically mysterious as ever. I mean, there was that whole thing with black tar, which seems to be a thing lately, but I still love the whole video. She can do no wrong, in my eyes! Take a look at the video for "Never Let Me Go" below!

Neon Hitch: "Love U Betta" Video!

Well this is something, isn't it? Neon Hitch has released the video for her latest single, "Love U Betta," which is actually known as "Fuck U Betta." Even with the swearing taken out, the video is still...well...I haven't quite decided. It's basically Neon Hitch writhing around on the floor, then in a cemetery (which was SO creepy!), then dancing/kissing some mannequins, then rolling around in some Dragon Tat-inspired black tar. All in all, the first watch left me speechless. But now I think it's pretty fantastic, even if it is a little too much like porn. Take a watch below and decide for yourself!

Summer Of Love

Today, German Eurodance pop gods Cascada have released their newest single, "Summer Of Love"! Officially getting an international release on March 30th, the track was penned by band members Manuel Reuter and Yann Pelfer. The beat is absolutely killer and it's a signature Cascada number. The track is instantly one that makes me want to just dance around in my underwear and wait until Summer comes 'round. Take a listen and get your dancing shoes ready to go!

Echo Of Love

The Shutes have released their new promo track for their upcoming five-track EP Echo Of Love out April 2nd via Cross Keys Recordings. The song is called "Echo Of Love" and I really like it quite a bit. It feels a bit like something that Two Door Cinema might record if they were crossed a bit with Miike Snow and maybe toned down just a bit by Bombay Bicycle Club with just a dash of Foster The People for good measure. Needless to say, it's a darn good release from The Shutes and their EP will hopefully be just as fantastic!

Carrie Underwood: Good Girl

Last week, Carrie Underwood released her first official single off her highly anticipated fourth studio album, Blown Away. Carrie has also released the cover art for the album, pictured above (she's actually stunning, right?). The single, "Good Girl" is a good ol' country-feeling, pop-inspired song that is very much Carrie Underwood. Returning to writers Chris DeStefano and Ashley Gorley (who were also responsible for the mega-hit "All-American Girl"), "Good Girl" is just as fantastic as any single Carrie has released in the past and it only spells out great things for Blow Away, out May 1st! Take a listen to "Good Girl" below!

Introducing: Conor Maynard

Brighton-born Conor Maynard is quickly rising up in the pop/R&B genre with the latest release of his video for his debut single "Can't Say No." The single won't officially be released for another six weeks but it is already drawing a great deal of attention. The video features the adorable Maynard walking through the city streets and partying all while acknowledging the pretty women around him and his trouble walking away. Maynard's fans on Twitter and Facebook are growing exponentially and "Can't Say No" has been featured on multiple radio station's Record of the Week charts. Record Of The Day has noted it the best, saying that "This is a huge track to launch the most exciting pop/R&B artist the UK has produced since Tinie Tempah." Some big shoes for Maynard to step in to but I strongly believe he can do it and I really can't wait for a full feature release from him! Check out the video for the infectious "Can't Say No" below!

Calvin Harris Has Another Hit On His Hands

On Friday, Calvin Harris premiered his latest single "Let's Go" featuring Ne-Yo. The track will be featured on Harris' upcoming third studio album, his latest release since 2009's unforgettable Ready For The Weekend. The new track is yet again a hit for Harris, who serves up his signature club-infused beat with the romanticized vocal's Ne-Yo is known for. Calvin Harris has had a string of international hits, with his past three releases, "Bounce" featuring Kelis, "Feel So Close" and "We Found Love" featuring Rihanna, all becoming unstoppable chart toppers. This single should serve as nothing less for Harris and I can't wait to hear more! take a listen to the "Let's Go" below:

Oh Sky Ferreira...

It's been far too long since As If! Luckily for all of us, that wait is over. Well, sort of. Sky has posted the demo version of "Lost In My Bed" which will be featured on her upcoming album, Wild At Heart. Ferreira describes the song as being the most electropop track on the new album, but has noted that it hasn't been finished yet. That's all fine with me, just so long as I get to hear the new tune! And do you know what? It's actually quite spectacular. It's got a nice Goldfrapp feel to it but Sky's raspy, soft vocals really give it the extra edge. It's definitely a strong showing for the new album, which gets here this summer! Take a listen to "Lost In My Bed" below:

Not Really Sure How I Missed This One

A few weeks back, and unbeknownst to me, the Pretty Reckless released the video for "You," which serves as the 4th single off their debut album, Light Me Up. The song is a more downtempo track compared to the rest of the music on the album, and the video is a great reflection of the song. Featuring mostly just Taylor Momsen staring longingly in to the camera with her big 'ol raccoon eyes, it's a really well done video and it's nice to see the softer side of Taylor. I'm still loving Light Me Up today and can't wait for their second EP Hit Me Like A Man to come out on March 6th. Take a look at the video for "You" below!

Kay's New Video Is Basically Awesome

Canadian electro-pop princess Kay has released the video for her new single, "Diddy Dum" and all I can say is that it's amazing. It's a bit like a little toned-down Karmin with a little bit of Robyn-Ke$ha hybrid mixed with a Gwen Stefani vibe that instantly works. The chorus is just an infectious as the accordion riff in the background, and the '80s-inspired marching band/biking montage ties it all together rather nicely. Kay has had success with other releases in the past year, like "My Name Is Kay," which was released back in April last year. She's quickly rising up and "Diddy Dum" I'm sure will perform nicely in the Canadian charts for her. Take a look at the video for "Diddy Dum" below, oh, and good luck singing any other chorus all day!

Santigold - "Disparate Youth" Video

Today, Santigold released the video for her first official single off her upcoming sophomore album, Master Of My Make-Believe, due out May 1st. The single is titled "Disparate Youth" and it's a really great song, as well as a great video. The video manages to come full-circle in the ending and I like that it's a more toned-down version of Santigold - something we haven't seen in a while. The video was directed by Sam Flelschner and has a very tribal feel to it, which I think gives it a different edge as well. Check out the video for "Disparate Youth" and share your thoughts below!

Rock That Pose For My Polaroid Picture

On Monday, New York-based Vali released the video for her debut single "Polaroid." Signed to Rostrum Records, home to Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller, this serves as her first release from Rostrum. The final product is a really well coreographed, ultra-catchy cut that instantly gets stuck in your head. A strong debut for Vali indeed, her voice fits really nicely with the bass and beat-heavy track. I think we'd all better get used to hearing Vali, as I think she's not going anywhere soon. Well, except maybe up on the charts...
Take a listen to "Polaroid" below, but be warned that you may be obsessed after!

A Little Something From Melodifestivalen 2012

Swedish Idol's 2006 winner Danny Saucedo has just finished competing in the fourth heat at Melodifestavalen with his single "Amazing." He's managed to qualify for the final, which will be decided on March 10th, and he has a very nice chance to get back in the spotlight.

"Amazing" is a nice return to music for Danny after a rather lack-luster chart performance with his last three singles. The new track is, well, pretty amazing. It's a pretty generic pop-tastic gem that still feels somewhat original. I'm a sucker for the Swedish and Danny hits all the right notes for me on the track. I even love the dubstep-infused breakdown near the end. That's really becoming quite popular, isn't it? Take a listen below!
